Workplace is the top three most common cluster in Sarawak and it is up to employers and employees to remain safer in a work place, said Local Government and Housing Minister, Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Dr Sim said as an employers, it is their duty to ensure that all workers are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, make daily self-declarations of health status mandatory, even on rest days, screen unwell workers for COVID-19, regardless how mild the sickness, not allowing unwell workers to work while awaiting swab results and grant them paid sick leave or allow them to work from home (if possible).
“If possible, enforce mandatory use of face shields (if work processes permit), in addition to face mask, ensure good ventilation at your workplace, especially the pantry and canteen and ensure adequate physical distancing at workplaces and hostels. Enforce strict pantry, tea and coffee and lunch break rules and discourage use of air-conditioning when your workers travel in group of 2 or more in your company\u2019s vehicle while keeping the windows open, ” he said.
Dr. Sim said it is best to organize workers into \u201cSafe Work Groups” to try limit the spread of, and adverse impacts arising from detection of COVID19 virus in your office. All on- and off-duty activities of each worker should be contained within their respective groups, with no crossing over.
Testing your employees using rapid test kit regularly is good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As an employee, Dr Sim, added that every worker could avoid bringing covid19 virus home from work by adhering to your workplace covid19 SOP.
He advised those feeling unwell not to go to work, no matter how mild the sickness and inform the employer immediately if they have been in contact with a known covid19 case or any of their family member is unwell, no matter how mild the sickness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
