In response to Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching\u2019s earlier statement that Sarawak\u2019s decision to delay schools from reopening is a slap for the Education Minister, Michael Tiang, SUPP Youth Chief said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tiang said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee\u2019s (SDMC) decision to delay the schools in Sarawak from reopening on March 1 is a great example of how the PN government respects and recognise the significance of Sarawak government exercising its autonomy in making decisions for the best interests of its people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It is blatant that by giving such free hand to SDMC, the PN government is confident that SDMC knows the best when is the most appropriate time to reopen schools while monitoring and controlling the pandemic situation here. In fact, PN government\u2019s high regards for Sarawak\u2019s autonomy is a slap for the former PH government which in many ways continued to keep Sarawak autonomy issues in limbo during its days of governance, ” he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tiang retorted that Sarawak under GPS\u2019s ruling had in several occasions during the PH\u2019s administration reiterated the importance of giving back Sarawak its autonomy in public health and education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
