Former Temenggong Lim Song Yu aged 83 a well known familiar figure with a big heart, passed away Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
Publicity Chief of SUPP, Dato’ Sebastian Ting expressed his sadness at the passing of a great man whom he described as a warm and friendly person who always greeted people with his smile.<\/p>\n
Ting said for as long as he knew Lim, he had never heard him raise his voice or utter any negative things on anyone.<\/p>\n
The late Lim, said Ting was very much involved with the Miri community and had always had the welfare and their best interest at heart. He was approachable and helpful, ever ready to listen and to offer a helping hand. He had good suggestions too on how to improve the security and the general directions on how Miri should progress. He is indeed a person who would be greatly missed.<\/p>\n
Lim according to Ting, was an active and extremely respected Chinese community leader, first as Penghulu and later as Temenggong.<\/p>\n
Even Ting’s children have wonderful and beautiful memories of “Uncle Lim” who would never fail to give children candies whenever they pulled into his petrol station, all done with his familiar smile.<\/p>\n
Ting said he and his family expressed his deepest Sympathies and Heartfelt Condolence to the late Lim’s family. And may he rest in peace.<\/p>\n
The funeral will be on Sunday (15\/6\/2014) at 1.30pm at Hilltop Garden, Miri.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
