Senator Sim Kui Hian has a long journey ahead of him of which he vows to do his best. Just a day after he was sworn in, he was invited to join the Prime Minister to go to China for a diplomatic working trip the next day. His first task as a senator was to field in his questions before he left<\/p>\n

Sim who had used his his tag line, \u201cSpeak Less, do more. Prove your sincerity by action\u201d long before becoming to be a politician said he would use that philosophy to guide him through.<\/p>\n

Before he was sworn in, President of the Senate, Tan Sri Abdu Zahar Ujang called him to his room and voiced that he was not so happy with some of the happening in the country today. Sim said he was very touched to be given a pep talk to speak out without fear for the country and not for his party or his race.<\/p>\n

He said he would sit down and organised himself so that he could serve the people well.<\/p>\n

As a Senator, Sim said he needs to deal with all issues in Sarawak and not just a constituency. Asking for more allocation for oil royalty, he pointed out is not enough as schools and hospitals would not be build with those allocation.<\/p>\n

He said Malaysia came together with Sabah and Sarawak as partners and Sarawak is losing out much despite contributing and sacrificing for the country so long. \u201cWe are not getting our fair share of development and facilities and I want that to be part of my job as a senator to do what I can,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A society, he pointed out, can benefit if more people can get a share of the pie. He cited an example that PETRONAS could allocate more projects\u00a0 for Sarawak businessmen without going through any middle man. \u201cIt is time to stop the middle men so that Sarawakians can get direct benefits and this will improve efficiency and effectiveness to fight for the people.\u00a0\u201c<\/p>\n

He also expressed his unhappiness with some irresponsible people who advocate the rights of other religion which could destroy the fabric of this country and pointed out that once that fabric is broken like a mirror, it would be difficult to glue back the broken pieces.<\/p>\n

Pointing out that from statistic shown in 2012,\u00a0 29% of the population is less than 15 years old.\u201d If we do not think of creating job opportunities, we would end up like Saudi Arabia where half the population are jobless,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Besides providing an education to the younger generation, Sim said it is time to stop the brain drain to Singapore and China. We have, he said to address the problem thus the trip with the Prime Minister to China is a good one to allow investment to flow in and create job opportunity to the younger generation here. China, he said, is going to invest in Malaysia and the country needs to grab the opportunity.<\/p>\n

While in China, Sim also got the opportunity to visit the world third largest Telecommunication Company. In Malaysia, the company hired 2,000 workers. After speaking to the Management level from the company, Sim said the company like Malaysian Chinese who they said speaks well in English and have good working ethics. He has invited them to come over as Sarawak has a fantastic data storage and hoped that\u00a0 more doors would be opened to create jobs for the people here.<\/p>\n

On the party Triennial Delegates conference in August,\u00a0 Sim said the party is working towards getting more youngsters to head the party. He did not want to comment on who the President is going to be although, it has been highly speculated that he would be heading the 55 year old party.<\/p>\n

He said the Parti Raykat Sarwak, SUPP and Sarawak Progressive Democratic party are working together and he believed in the future, it would be a two party system.<\/p>\n

Calling the new party Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (TERAS) misleading, he said the SUPP logos were taken down in Sibu and Engkilili which the party had put up again with Barisan Nasional logo.<\/p>\n

Former Sibu SUPP Chairman, Dato\u2019 Sri Wong Soon Koh, Ranum Mina, Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil and Jonical Rayong had jumped ship to join with former President of SPDP Tan Sri William Mawan. On Thursday, Sim said he had send out 50 letters to several leaders and members to ask whether they are in SUPP or Teras.<\/p>\n
