Yap advised the public that it is an offence under the Penal Code to threaten\u00a0 another person to do any act which that\u00a0 person is not legally bound to do. Anyone who receives a threat of injury to his person or property or to his family members from illegal moneylenders should immediately lodge a police report\u00a0 to enable the police to take action.<\/p>\n
He also urged people with financial difficulties to never resort to money lenders or \u201cloan sharks\u201d for a short term solution to their financial problems. People with financial difficulties should also not be drawn in by the sweet promises of these easy loans from illegal moneylenders. Individuals\u00a0 should be wary and aware of the implications of dealing with illegal moneylenders due to the bad repercussions especially on their family members if they cannot pay.<\/p>\n
