WHAT IS THERE TO CELEBRATE??

It’s always ‘DAP talk’ is correct, anyone else talking differently from DAP tune or any other opinions are mostly thrown out or shut down by these DAP, is this not an act of repressive way?? Calling Gabungan Parti Sarawak a ‘Crybaby’? Are you, Chong, a sarawakian or a hot potato for Malaya? You use to roar like a lion before but today you meow like a cat in front of your political masters in putra jaya.

After a year of Pakatan Harapan rule, the euphoria that followed the May 9 general election is rapidly evaporating. So now after a year, what exactly did PH government do for Sarawak? Apart from slashing projects beneficial to Sarawak and continuing to plunder Sarawak’s oil and gas resources, what’s the difference between PH and the UMNO before? Prices of goods are on the rise, cost of living is going up, the value of the ringgit is depreciating further, the stock market is the worst among Asian markets in 2019 and the people are struggling hard to put food on he table.

Where is the autonomy on Education and Health as promised? Where is 20% Oil Royalty as promised?

Our Chief Minister Abang Jo is very passionate about restoring MA63, he wants to ensure that the rights, not only of Sarawakians but also counterparts from Sabah, are well preserved pursuant to MA63. Again, my question to Chong; so where is DAP’s promise to recognise MA63 and return everything to Sarawak based on MA63?

Chong Chieng Jen ,in order to cover PH government’s failure, tries to ridicule GPS. With 20 odd members from UMNO going across to PH, what is the difference between the previous UMNO government then and the PH governemnt now? Sarawak government and our people must, at all times, stay vigilant to prevent any erosion of our constitutional rights and safeguards.

Sarawak state representatives on April 30 unanimously passed the motion proposed by Samariang assemblywoman and Assistant Minister for Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali. With this mandate, the state government would go through the ongoing discussions with the Federal Government on the implementation of the MA63 seek amendments to the Federal Constitution. This amendments, among others, would ensure that Sarawak’s legislative and executive powers and the sources of revenues provided and assigned to it were safeguarded. It would also provide adequate protection against any encroachment or erosion of the state’s constitutional rights and safeguards.

Let me REMIND Chong AGAIN. Where are the following PROMISES?

1. NO official recognition given to the UEC?

2. On Promise 7: “To provide targeted petrol subsidies,” we are still waiting for petrol prices to be reduced to 1.50 as promised in your manifesto?

3. The rights of Sarawak to territorial government?

4. The rights for the state to petroleum and revenue justice?

5. The rights of Sarawakians to equitable basic infrastructure and land development?

6. The rights of of the people to quality education?

7. The rights to equitable economic development and the empowerment of youth, women and minorities?

Chong said the cut in the budget for several projects is a necessary action to save Malaysia from bankruptcy!?!? Bankruptcy? Please explain to us in Sarawak on the privatisation of national assets in the name of Bumiputerism? Revival of the national car, Proton 2.0? Flying cars? RM1.6 Billion Kulim Airport? 49 development projects in the Sandakan district, worth RM2.28 Billion? And so many more.

The current policy is 22,500 places for Bumiputera students and 2,500 for non-Bumiputeras. When the PH government decided to increase the number of university places set aside for those that come through a one-year pre-university matriculation places to 40,000 from 25,000 last month, it did not go down well with the Chinese community at all. Why? Because the quota of 90 per cent for Bumiputra students remained. To add salt to injury, increasing the number of matriculation places will also reduce the number of university places for those who take the usual high school examination (STPM) route to university, one which most minorities undergo. The divide between the two educational pathways to university for bumiputra and non-bumiputra just got wider from this. Where is the Meritocracy which represents a vision in which power and privilege would be allocated by individual merit, not by social origins? Why is Chong and DAP keeping quiet about this?

PH government’s announcement to call off the accession to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd) is their mismanagement of the issue and the lack of a unified front to counter the myths and misconceptions made by the opposers of Icerd have led to the rise and the escalation of the issue. Icerd not only helps a government enact policies against racism but also promotes understanding and empathy among races. Why is Chong and DAP keeping so quiet on this subject?

Petronas paid dividends of RM26 billion in 2018 and RM54 billion (inclusive of a one-off special dividend of RM30 billion) in 2019. Here we in Sarawak questioned the need for Petronas to pay RM54 billion in dividend to the government this year, when a large number of claims for Goods and Services Tax (GST) refunds allegedly remain unverified. The Auditor-General’s Report 2017, which was tabled in Parliament last year, showed that the authenticity of a segment of GST claims has not been verified.

The broad-based GST has been eliminated but the abuse-prone SST has been re-implemented. Malaysia’s stock market is at its worst now. why? Chong and DAP should start answering all these questions and many more.

Billions of Sarawak oil and gas money goes into developing Malaya while Sabah and Sarawak remains the poorest in Malaysia. Cities like Kuala Lumpur and Penang or even small towns in west Malaysia are much more developed by the federal government. Luckily for Sarawak, we have a wise and far sighted Chief Minister. Sarawak will finance its own federal projects cancelled by Putrajaya for the people!

Sarawak government even offered RM1 billion to the federal government to do repair works on all dilapidated schools in Sarawak, which is to be repaid through contra from the existing loan owed by us to the federal government, but there’s U-turns and uncertainty till now.

Sarawakians, let us all rally behind CM Abg Jo, support GPS to regain Sarawak’s wealth and rights pursuant to MA63. Only GPS can and will sincerely protect and take care of Sarawak! Sarawak First.!

Lo Khere Chiang

So DAP Sarawak is celebrating their one-year anniversary of PH federal government being in power.
