People commented that the above observation is based on the following important facts. Our Prime Minister held Minister of Education from 1974 to 1976. (3 years), Deputy Prime Minister from 1976 to 1981. (5 years) and Prime Minister from1981 to 2003. ( 22 years). If he wanted to recognise UEC, it would be easy therefore, it is fair to say that our Prime Minister will never agree to the recognition of UEC so long as he is our Prime Minister. The people said “Please don’t put too much hope on him,” added Ting.

To the Chinese, education is very important and so is the language Mandarin/Chinese. Indeed it is widely accepted and recognised that outside China and Taiwan, the standard of mandarin/chinese in Malaysia is ranked number 1.

Ting pointed out the sacrifices from the Chinese educationists and philanthropists in Malaysia are well known. It is these groups of people who continue to face the tough challenges all these years and that at every Parliamentary election, the issue of the recognition of UEC by the Federal Government would always be raised by DAP, MCA and Gerakan with the hope of getting the support of the Chinese. He said the father and son team, Lim KitSiang and Lim Guan Eng always shouted the loudest, till May 2018. Since then, their lion roars have never been heard on this. They don’t see, don’t hear and don’t speak anymore on this.

Lim Guan Eng and Chong Chieng Jen in their PRU 14 videos assured and promised the Chinese populations that with the strong mandate from the Chinese, DAP and their goverment would recognise UEC within 30 days. “Will they have anything to say to the Chinese voters regarding the statement by our Prime Minister? Sarawakians, espcially in town areas, are now asking why Sarawak DAP YBS and leaders have also gone very quiet and are indeed acting dumb, not only on this issue but other issues as well. We are blessed with our present Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Datuk Amar Abang Zohari who had announced that he and his Government would continue to recognise UEC, a policy decision made by the late Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, the 5th Chief Minister of Sarawak, our Dear Tok Nan, as fondly called and remembered.

In addition, our Tok Nan started to allocate fund to the 14 Independent Chinese Middle Schools in Sarawak, RM 3 million in 2014, RM 4 million in 2015, RM 5 million in 2016, RM 6 million in 2017 and last year, our present Chief Minister Abang Jo gave RM7 Million. This is Sarawak. We are unique and we must remember that Sarawak must always come first. In view of the above, people would like to seek answer from Sarawak DAP leaders. Will Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, Sarawak DAP YBS and their leaders apologise to the Chinese who voted for them in PRU14? he asked.

Datuk Sebastian Ting

SUPP read with grave concern and disappointment of the statement made by our Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir on the reasons why he and his Government could not recognise UEC, going against the promise of such recognition as contained in PH manifesto in PRU14, said Secretary general, Datuk Sebastian Ting.
