The\u00a0 year 2018 had seen\u00a0 many events and changes, including\u00a0 the trade\u00a0war between\u00a0 the USA and the People\u2019s Republic\u00a0 of China, and\u00a0disastrous events occurred in many countries, while in Malaysia, the\u00a0government in power was transferred peacefully.\u00a02019 is an important year to Sarawak. The government would continue to\u00a0strive for the aims of Sarawak first while giving priority to\u00a0 the\u00a0interests of the people. It would implement projects beneficial to the\u00a0people as well as looking after their welfare. The aims of the Sarawak\u00a0Government\u00a0 are to regain her autonomy including the autonomy over\u00a0education and medical services.<\/p>\n

The Sarawak State Assembly had approved the levying of 5 percent sales\u00a0tax over the export of petroleum products. The\u00a0 measure would no doubt\u00a0draw additional revenue. The Sarawak Government had decided to share\u00a0the revenue from the 5 percent tax for the implementation of projects\u00a0beneficial to the\u00a0 welfare of\u00a0 the people. From 2019 onwards, every\u00a0new born baby in\u00a0 Sarawak would be entitled to RM1000. This is the\u00a0beginning. The people can expect to enjoy more welfare benefits in the\u00a0future.<\/p>\n

Sarawak should enjoy economic autonomy. The PH Federal Government\u00a0 is\u00a0called to pay back to Sarawak the 50 percent tax collected from\u00a0Sarawak, as well as the 20 percent oil royalty promised as soon as\u00a0possible.<\/p>\n

The Sarawak Government pay great attention to the implementation of\u00a0the MA63 which gives autonomy to Sarawak. We are\u00a0 anxious to regain\u00a0the autonomy given to Sarawak under the MA63, especially those that\u00a0had been eroded over the\u00a0 years.<\/p>\n

We feel happy that the Sarawak Government keep an unshakable stand\u00a0over the privileges of autonomy. The Government never compromise over\u00a0any policy or laws detrimental to its autonomy rights. We expect\u00a0breakthrough and new achievements over the issue during 2019.<\/p>\n

The harmony\u00a0 prevailing between the varied\u00a0 races in Sarawak is the\u00a0greatest and privileged heritage of Sarawak. We will never allow any
\nquarters to destroy it. Sarawak has established the Unit For Other\u00a0Religions (UNIFOR) and has allocated RM20 million in 2018\u00a0 for the\u00a0development of activities of all religions. The allocation would be\u00a0increased to RM30 million\u00a0 this\u00a0 year. We hope the allocation can\u00a0 be\u00a0increased to RM50 million in the future. The funding for various\u00a0religions in Sarawak cannot be found in other parts of Malaysia.<\/p>\n

We feel worry over the actions and speeches expressed by those\u00a0extremists in Malaya. We ought to take precautions to prevent their\u00a0encroachment in Sarawak.<\/p>\n

We call on all Sarawakians,\u00a0 to stand solidly behind the Sarawak\u00a0Government for the sake of building a better developed and\u00a0 a strong\u00a0Sarawak.<\/p>\n
