{"id":23503,"date":"2018-12-12T15:27:07","date_gmt":"2018-12-12T07:27:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=23503"},"modified":"2018-12-12T22:21:04","modified_gmt":"2018-12-12T14:21:04","slug":"datuk-sebastian-ting-thumbs-up-to-cm-for-free-public-transport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=23503","title":{"rendered":"Datuk Sebastian Ting thumbs up to CM for  free public transport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>State Assemblyman for Piasau, Datuk Sebastian Ting gave a thumb up to\u00a0YAB Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg&#8217;s\u00a0announcement that the Sarawak Government may consider to provide free\u00a0bus services in cities like those in Peninsular Malaysia is a\u00a0well-thought-out idea and is most welcomed as it helps to ease traffic\u00a0woes as well as reducing the financial burden on the lower income\u00a0group.<\/p>\n<p>He said the inadequate infrastructures for public transport coupled\u00a0with the booming vehicles on its the road have caused serious\u00a0annoyance to the road users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have stated it in the last DUN sitting in November that as Sarawak\u00a0develops and prospers, especially the city centres, the public\u00a0transportation will become a necessity infrastructure to the issue of\u00a0having too many cars on the road and creating unnecessary traffic\u00a0jam.I am happy that YAB Chief Minister also shared the same thoughts\u00a0that the Sarawak Government should plan ahead to provide free bus\u00a0services in order to encourage the usage of public transport as well\u00a0as developing efficient public transportation that not only depends on\u00a0road but also LRT for the people living in major cities such as\u00a0Kuching, Miri, Sibu and Bintulu,\u201d said Ting.<\/p>\n<p>Calling it a people-centric policy that will help many lower income\u00a0group in reducing their financial burden, Ting hoped that Chief\u00a0Minister will also consider about the school buses operators as over\u00a0the years they are being affected by the rising petrol prices.
