The Old Josephians\u2019 Association (OJA) Kuchingorganised its 2nd consecutiveOra Et Labora Run on the8th December 2018 with the theme \u201cBack to School\u201d to encourage old boys to come back to school.The Run attracted a total of 1,300 runners comprise of students of SMK St. Joseph and St. Joseph Private School, old boys of the school and the public.<\/p>\n

The main objective of the OJA in organizing the Ora Et Labora Run is to raise funds for student\u2019s extra- curricular activities.\u00a0 \u00a0Apart from that, the Run serves as a reunion for ex-students and as an opportunity to render service to their alma mater.<\/p>\n

This year, the event is divided into the 5km Fun Run and 10km competitive run where there are two Categories; Open Category (Men and Women) for the public and to make it more interesting, an Old Josephian categoryanda category for existing St Joseph students (Boys and Girls).<\/p>\n

The Student category is organized to promote active competition between our young Josephians besides the school sports day, and is another platform for students to improve themselves, to represent St Joseph and to excel in sports.<\/p>\n

The Run was flagged off by OJA President, Datuk Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Archbishop Simon Poh together with the organizing committee, principals and teachers of the St. Joseph Family of Schools.<\/p>\n

Dr. Sim, who is also the Minister of Local Government and Housing added in his welcoming address that<\/p>\n

OJA also hopes to make Ora Et Labora Run an annual event where alumni can come back to school at least once a year.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cNext year, perhaps earlier in September 2019, the OJA will organize the Run again, and this time, we are going to incorporate a charity sales in the school to inculcate the Lasallian values, to help the last, the lost and the least. After runners complete the run, they can still hang around in the school compound for a fellowship breakfast and to shop for knick knacks\u201d.<\/p>\n

All runners who finish the run received finisher medals by Medal Depot and for the 10km competitive run, top 5 finishers receive additional cash prizes and trophies for the students.<\/p>\n

For the Open Category, the first prize winner walked away with RM350 cash, followed by RM250 for second prize, RM200 for third prize, RM100 for both fourth and fifth place respectively.\u00a0 Meanwhile for the Old Josephian Category, the first prize winner took RM200 cash, RM150 for second prize, RM100 for third prize and RM50 for both fourth and fifth place respectively. On top of that, for the student category, all top 5 finishers boys and girls received trophy worth RM200, RM150, RM100 and RM50.<\/p>\n

The top five winners for the 10km Women Open Category were Lee Leh Ha, Christabel Lim, Lavina Kong, Tang Sii Eng and Rachel Ling while the top five winners for the 10km Men Open Category were Mohd Shahir, \u00a0Chong Yen Boon, Sunny Jong, Mohd Sharif and Fakhrul Mumini.<\/p>\n

For the Old Josephian Category, the top five winners were Tan Jit Ping, Ian Chang, Andy Yeo, Ashari Osman and Henry Au Yang while the Students Boys Category top five winners were Mohd Nur Iman, Corwin Chu Ng, Masefield ak Gerry, Ayden Chun and Awang Saiful Hazwan and Students Girls Category top five winners were Cheryl Lim Woon Yee, Aria Alexis Kuek, Nicole Hon Cai Xuan, Geraldine Rachel and Miriam Rania Lu.<\/p>\n
