It is\u00a0the State Assemblymen each of whom is sworn to protect and defend our\u00a0Sarawak Constitution and Sarawak&#8217;s interests. They supplement the work\u00a0of our Members of Parliament. Their duty is to ensure that the rights\u00a0of every citizen and every partners of the Federation are in\u00a0accordance to the Federal Constitution and the MA63,&#8221; he pointed out.<\/p>\n<p>The special committee, he added, should focus on all measures\u00a0fulfilling Article VIII of the Malaysia Agreement to ensure complete\u00a0implementation of all the recommendations of the Inter-Governmental\u00a0Committee (IGC) Report rather than re-negotiating. We are done with\u00a0the negotiating in 1963. &#8220;Just implement what was agreed. In the\u00a0process, they may have to amend certain laws and policies that eroded\u00a0the MA63 and the spirit of the Agreement. The initial things that I am\u00a0looking forward to from the special committee discussion are the\u00a0return of education autonomy back to Sarawak and our oil and gas\u00a0resources.
