The 17th Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival which ended on the\u00a024th Sept broke a new record of having 200,000 visitors this year\u00a0during its 8 days celebration at the Carpenter street.<\/p>\n

Organising Chairman, Sim Kiang Chiok thanked all the participants, be\u00a0it in the arts and culture performances, the stall operators including\u00a0those from Brunei and Indonesia, the street magicians and dancers, the\u00a0Teochew Chinese orchestra, Han Clothes exhibitors, Calligraphy\u00a0workshop between Masters from our Malaysia and Fushan, China.<\/p>\n

He also announced the winner of the halal mooncake making competition\u00a0winner to be Siti Aisyah Bt Abdullah who was also the last year\u00a0champion. The prize was presented by Tun Sallahudin and Toh Puan\u00a0Nokiah witnessed by the Consul General to China, Mr and Mrs\u00a0 Cheng\u00a0Guanzhong , invited guests and Master Chef, Goh Ah Seng who conducted\u00a0the competition.<\/p>\n

Sim said over 20 competitors and many Malay ladies from the Pantai\u00a0Damai area joined this 2nd competition since it was first introduced\u00a0last year. The event was held in Merdeka Plaza on the\u00a0 September 22\u00a0and the organiser and competitors were glad that they were able to\u00a0share their culinary arts among all Sarawakian to promote better\u00a0understanding and mutual respect among the different races .<\/p>\n

The festival is over and Sim pointed out that he is glad that many\u00a0Sarawakian of different ethnic origin have joined this celebration of\u00a0Unity in Diversity\u00a0 in the City of Unity at the longest street\u00a0festival in Kuching.<\/p>\n
