Singapore was separated in 1965. Most Malaysians do not know that Sabah and Sarawak DID NOT JOIN Malaysia but FORMED Malaysia, because history books continue to teach our children that Sabah and Sarawak joined Malaysia which is totally wrong. We will continue to request that the correct facts on the formation of Malaysia are properly recorded and stated in our history books,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>With the separation of Singapore from Malaysia, Ting added that there are now only three nations, namely Federated States of Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak that formed Malaysia under the MA63.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed without Sabah and Sarawak there would not have been a country called Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>For completeness and for greater understanding on the formation of Malaysia, these four documents are relevant<\/p>\n<p>(i) Cobbold Commission<br \/>\n(ii) Inter Governmental\u00a0Commission Report<br \/>\n(iii) Malaysia Agreement\u00a01963 and<br \/>\n(iv) Malaysia Act 1963\u00a0( Chapter 35) \u00a0(This Act was passed in British Parliament, United Kingdom)<\/p>\n<p>All Sarawakians should or must know these three important dates<\/p>\n<p>(i) 22nd July 1963 ( 722)\u00a0(Sarawak Independence Day as\u00a0Gazetted by Sarawak Government.\u00a0A public holiday in Sarawak )<\/p>\n<p>(ii) 31st August 1957 (831) (the\u00a0Independence Day of\u00a0Federated States of Malaya\u00a0(Nothing to do with Sabah and\u00a0Sarawak )<\/p>\n<p>(iii) 16th September 1963 ( 916)\u00a0Malaysia Day.
