The Sarawak Heart Foundation is promising another fun celebration on\u00a0World Heart Day 2018 at Saradise, JalanSutong, Kuching\u00a0on\u00a023 September\u00a0<\/a>2018.<\/p>\n

Its chairman, Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-PertuaNegeri Sarawak,\u00a0TunPehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud will officiate the launching of\u00a0the event and take part in the Walk-A-Mile. \u00a0About 2,000 people are\u00a0expected to take part in the celebration.<\/p>\n

The vast grounds in a strategic location in Kuching city will be able\u00a0to accommodate a big crowd. This is what the Foundation would like to\u00a0see \u2013 people who are conscious of heart health and who will take the\u00a0opportunity to have their blood taken for the tests available on World\u00a0Heart Day.<\/p>\n

The theme for this year\u2019s World Heart Day is \u201cMy Heart, Your Heart\u201d.\u00a0It is about celebrating and connecting like-minded people. Everyone is\u00a0to make a promise \u2013 a promise as an individual to get more active, say\u00a0no to smoking and eat more healthily.<\/p>\n

World Heart Day is a global event that sees individuals, families,\u00a0communities, organisations and governments around the world take part\u00a0in activities to take charge of their heart health and that of others.\u00a0It has the power to unite people from all countries and backgrounds in\u00a0the fight against cardiovascular disease and inspires and drives\u00a0international action to encourage heart-healthy living across the\u00a0world.<\/p>\n

The registration fee of RM20 for the Walk-A-Mile comes with the\u00a0official Walk-A-Mile T-shirt, balloons (first-come, first-serve),\u00a0breakfast and a ticket for the lucky draw.<\/p>\n

Prizes in the lucky draw include the latest Apple Watch Series 3,\u00a0return air ticket to Ho Chi Minh,smartphones, sports watches,hotel,\u00a0food and product vouchers, electronic appliances and hampers.<\/p>\n

Nestle Products SdnBhd has been the faithful sponsor of the official\u00a0T-shirt and various products for World Heart Day all these years.<\/p>\n

There will be a lot happening on World Heart Day. \u00a0The Sarawak Heart\u00a0Centre will conduct free health screening for the public\u00a0from\u00a08 am\u00a0<\/a>onwards.The health screening covers Body Mass Index, blood glucose,\u00a0blood pressure, cholesterol as well as health counselling with\u00a0doctors. \u00a0Members of the public who intend to do the health screening\u00a0are advised to fast at least six hours before the finger prick blood\u00a0test screening for more accurate results.<\/p>\n

Physiotherapists with the Sarawak Heart Centre will conduct the\u00a0warm-up session for the participants and conduct \u2018Fitness Test\u2019 too.\u00a0Everyone can join in the line dance and zumba performances at the\u00a0event.<\/p>\n

The Foundation needs the support of everyone to ensure the success of\u00a0World Heart Day to fight heart disease and to promote heart health.<\/p>\n

The Foundation was set up in 1996 as a charity to promote a\u00a0heart-healthy community in Sarawak. \u00a0Core activities include providing\u00a0financial assistance to poor heart patients in Sarawak for heart\u00a0treatment in Malaysia, public health exhibitions, health talks as well\u00a0as free health screenings.<\/p>\n

Apart from sponsoring medical treatment for the recuperation and\u00a0rehabilitation of heart patients in public hospitals in Sarawak, the\u00a0Foundation also provides grants and sponsorships to hospitals,\u00a0institutions of higher learning and professionals in the medical field\u00a0to enable them to carry out research on heart-related diseases.<\/p>\n
