Sarawak United Peoples\u2019 Party (SUPP)\u00a0\u00a0expressed shocked when the Pakatan Harapan(PH) Federal Government said in Parliament that\u00a0 the Government \u00a0could not pay the 20 percent oil royalty to Sarawak.<\/p>\n
Demanding an explanation\u00a0 from MP Stampin, Chong Chieng Jen, the PH Sarawak Chairman, SUPP stated that the payment of the 20 percent oil royalty to Sarawak is part and parcel of the\u00a0 PH\u2019s\u00a0\u00a0pledges made\u00a0 before the GE 14.<\/p>\n
When PH became the Federal Government ruling party, it should pay 20 percent oil royalty to Sarawak. However, the Federal Minister of Economic Affairs\u00a0Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali\u00a0had declared in Parliament that\u00a0the Federal Government could not implement the pledge.<\/p>\n
SUPP condemned the failure of the PH federal Government in keeping its pledge. The PH has cheated the Sarawak people.<\/p>\n
YB Chong must declare his stance on the issue, whether he agreed with the decision of the PH Federal government. SUPP demanded YB Chong to explain to the\u00a0Sarawak people his implementation of his election pledges, including the 20 percent payment of oil royalty to Sarawak as well the recognition of UEC, after\u00a0PH had won the GE14.<\/p>\n
Oil forms part of the resources of Sarawak. The oil royalty is important to Sarawak. We shall not\u00a0endorse any reason on the non-payment of\u00a0the oil royalty by the HP Federal Government.<\/p>\n
