{"id":22536,"date":"2018-07-23T12:49:09","date_gmt":"2018-07-23T04:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=22536"},"modified":"2018-07-23T15:14:32","modified_gmt":"2018-07-23T07:14:32","slug":"cm-sarawak-still-require-federal-funds-for-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=22536","title":{"rendered":"CM: Sarawak still require federal funds for development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chief Minister Abang Johari Tun Openg said Sarawak needs four times\u00a0the current quantum of allocation from the federal government to be\u00a0able to develop good infrastructure throughout the length and breadth\u00a0of Sarawak, in the rural areas.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the opening of the Sarawak Independence Day celebration at\u00a0the Celebration Square, Jalan Stadium today, he said this is why the state\u00a0wants it rights over the oil and gas as the\u00a0 current strong financial\u00a0reserve is partly the accumulation of revenue from the oil and gas\u00a0industry on our shores.<\/p>\n<p>The money returned to the people can be used to develop our rural\u00a0water supply, construct more bridges and build more roads instead of\u00a0just relying on the Federal Government.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out the victory of the Oil and Gas Mining Ordinance (OMO)\u00a01958 which gives Sarawak the full regulatory power overall persons and\u00a0companies, including Petronas, involved in the activities of oil and<br \/>\ngas, on shore and offshore, in Sarawak and have gone to the Federal\u00a0Court against Petronas and the court has declined to give leave to\u00a0Petronas to declare that OMO 1958 is not valid.
