{"id":21992,"date":"2018-05-17T16:40:27","date_gmt":"2018-05-17T08:40:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=21992"},"modified":"2018-05-17T18:14:46","modified_gmt":"2018-05-17T10:14:46","slug":"sarawak-ph-excuses-not-to-fulfill-their-election-pledges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=21992","title":{"rendered":"Sarawak PH excuses not to fulfill their election pledges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SUPP In response to State Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Chong Chieng\u00a0Jen\u2019s earlier statement that the New Deal for Sarawak was off and so\u00a0was the devolution of powers, Sarawak United Peoples\u2019 Party (SUPP)\u00a0issued a press statement slamming Sarawak PH for finding lame excuses\u00a0not to fulfill their election pledges to Sarawak people.<\/p>\n<p>During the campaign of the 14th General Election, Sarawak PH clearly\u00a0stated in their election manifesto, Buku Harapan under Promises 41 and<br \/>\n47 that in the event the PH becomes the government of the day, the PH\u00a0government would ensure the prosperity of the people of Sarawak by\u00a0increasing the petroleum royalty to Sarawak to 20 percent, and also to\u00a0implement decentralization of power to Sarawak which includes 50\u00a0percent of the tax revenue collected in Sarawak to be returned to\u00a0Sarawak. Furthermore, the State PH chairman, Chong Chieng Jen also in\u00a0various occasions openly repeated the above pledges in the press as\u00a0well as in his campaign videos which was seen widely distributed\u00a0through social networks and mobile phones.<\/p>\n<p>SUPP finds it totally absurd for Sarawak PH to say that the \u201cNew Deal\u201d\u00a0was off on the ground that the Sarawak Government did not sign the New\u00a0Deal Agreement prepared by Sarawak PH. \u201cFirst of all, one would not be\u00a0able to find any mention of such \u201cNew Deal Agreement\u201d throughout their\u00a0Buku Harapan that such an agreement must be signed by the Sarawak\u00a0Government in order for PH to honour their ends of their pledges.\u201d\u00a0\u201cMany Sarawakians had also watched Chong\u2019s campaign videos, did he\u00a0ever mention about the New Deal Agreement is a condition for PH to\u00a0fulfill their pledges? Nothing!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>SUPP also reminds PH that all the promises they pledged in their\u00a0Manifesto are promises they pledged with the people of Sarawak, not\u00a0with the Sarawak Government. When PH pledged those promises with the\u00a0people, and the people chose to vote them in as the government of the\u00a0day, that is a reason good enough for the PH to stop finding excuses\u00a0but to start working to fulfill all their pledges for the people!<\/p>\n<p>SUPP suspects the PH must have now found it difficult to fulfill their\u00a0promises pledged to Sarawak people.
