St. Joseph Private School need at least RM3 million to repair\u00a0two separate buildings, said Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian yesterday\u00a0morning at<\/a>\u00a0St Joseph school<\/p>\n

In a press conference. Dr. Sim who is the Chairman of the Old\u00a0Josephians Association (OJA) said one building which housed 9 classrooms and\u00a0another was the main building. Both building had cracks on the walls\u00a0and the classrooms were vacant due to the dangerous situation and need\u00a0urgent repair. The RM3 million is used for restoration work only, he\u00a0said.<\/p>\n

In conjunction of the 135th anniversary of St. Josphians\u2019 Association,\u00a0Dr. Sim who is also Minister for Local Government and Housing, said\u00a0they are having a series of activities to commemorate the occasion.<\/p>\n

On July 15, they will be a blood and organ donation while for August\u00a04th and 5th, the St Joseph\u2019s Alumni will be reaching out to brother\u00a0school (sponsorship of the Musical Drama \u2018White Rajah). The musical\u00a0drama is based on the Brooke era in the history of Sarawak.<\/p>\n

On September 3, there will be an Ora et Labora Run with fund collected\u00a0to restore the buildings besides upgrading facilities and amenities.\u00a0The Run is open to St Joseph Family of schools,public and\u00a0ex-Josephians who wish to run can also register on-line.<\/p>\n

Dr Sim said on October 27tyh, there will b e a \u2018back to school band\u2019\u00a0which gives an opportunity to bring ex-students back to school to\u00a0enjoy the light and easy music and to catch up with one another.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0November 17, a 135th anniversary dinner will be held\u00a0at 7 pm\u00a0at the \u00a0Imperial hotel.<\/p>\n

Calling to the ex- Josephians to chip in to help, Dr. Sim said the\u00a0school has churned out many successful students who are now either\u00a0professionals or business people with some ministers. He said this is\u00a0the time to pay back their gratitude to the school.<\/p>\n
