At long last, the King of Graffiti, Lithuania born Ernest Zacharevic ended up in Cat city and drew a wheelbarrow of orang-utan on the wall at Power Street.<\/p>\n

Earning his reputation in Malaysia after his murals in Penang, the most famous of \u201cLittle children on a bicycle\u201d and a controversial one in Johor. Ernest art work of a Lego man robbing a Lego woman was whitewashed by the council in Johor depicting high crime rate in Johor.<\/p>\n

Working under the heat of a small canopy, Ernest worked on his 8 orang-utan on the\u201d paint-peeling\u201d wall with a cut out wheel barrow as an enthralled crowd watched.<\/p>\n

After an hour\u2019s break for lunch at noon, Ernest returned to work on a baby orang-utan swinging from a rusty water pipe that acts as a tree branch and cheekily planted a packet of cola in a plastic bag, probably thinking the orang utan like him needs to quench his thirst as he worked for hours in the heat.<\/p>\n

Although not wanting to take questions from reporters who gathered around him, it was learned that Ernest might do two more murals in Kuching.<\/p>\n

As photos appeared in the social media, the crowd grew bigger by the afternoon as people gathered around him to watch him work while others drove by to take a peep at the famous painting of the day.<\/p>\n

Observing his work, Ernest tends to paint over dirty walls to bring out the beauty of the art he illustrated – as he said there is beauty in everything.<\/p>\n

As the crowd gathered watching, many were wondering if the council would whitewash it.<\/p>\n

Mayor of Kuching City North (DBKU) Dato\u2019 Abang Wahap, assured that he is all for anything that is beautiful and put Kuching on the map.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the murals Wahap, who is overseas, said he has in fact tried to introduce art work similar to Ernest with two universities but there was yet any concrete decision made.<\/p>\n

Wahap believed that the art work by Ernest would be a tourist attraction and he said as long as it is with his concept of \u201cClean, Beautiful and Safe\u201d (CBS), he is all for it.\u00a0He hopes to meet Ernest when he returns next week.<\/p>\n
