{"id":13811,"date":"2016-11-29T16:03:20","date_gmt":"2016-11-29T08:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=13811"},"modified":"2016-11-29T21:59:45","modified_gmt":"2016-11-29T13:59:45","slug":"dr-sim-plan-on-a-regionalised-hospital-service-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=13811","title":{"rendered":"Dr Sim: plan on a regionalised hospital service system"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The state Health Department is eyeing to have a regionalized hospital\u00a0service system that would optimise the accessibility to its services.<\/p>\n<p>Local Government Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said\u00a0State Health department is hoping for a regionalised hospital in Sibu,\u00a0Miri and Kuching to give better services to the people at large.<\/p>\n<p>In his ministerial closing speech, Dr Sim said there were three new\u00a0hospitals in progress \u2013 the 300-bed Petra Jaya\u00a0Hospital with a scheme value of RM495 million, the 76-bed Lawas\u00a0Hospital with scheme value of RM27.67 million, and the 108-bed Sri\u00a0Aman Hospital with scheme value of RM176.28 million.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0actual progress for Petra Jaya Hospital was 42.51 per cent versus the\u00a0scheduled progress at 78.18 per cent; and\u00a0Lawas Hospital Phase 2B (project) which includes the development of structure and building is now waiting for the open tender process\u00a0by the Public Works Department (JKR).\u00a0 In Sri Aman the hospital\u00a0progress is at 12 per\u00a0cent versus the scheduled progress at 18 per cent. It is expected to\u00a0reach completion in 2018,\u201d he pointed out.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Sim also touched on the progress of Miri Hospital\u2019s new operation\u00a0theatre which is almost completed at\u00a097.5 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder the 11th Malaysia Plan, the projects approved are the expansion\u00a0and upgrading of Miri Hospital clinical block, the new neonatal\u00a0intensive care unit (ICU) at Limbang Hospital, and also the new lift\u00a0services for SGH and Sibu Hospital.\u201d\u00a0 he said.<\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0pointed out that he was aware of Kuching facing a shortage\u00a0in clinical psychologists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Malaysia, sometimes many of our specialists or medical\u00a0professionals choose to work in private (sector) because of the\u00a0salary. In this respect, I notice that many of the DAP YBs have chosen\u00a0to work at private hospitals, instead of\u00a0serving at public hospitals.
