SUPP agrees with the Deputy Chief Minister TSDA Dr James Masing that\u00a0in all matters affecting the freedom of the individual, especially the\u00a0right to choose a religion of his own to practise, the Federal\u00a0Constitution reigns supreme.<\/p>\n
SUPP would go further to say that in\u00a0cases involving the freedom of Sarawakians \u00a0to practise the religion of\u00a0their choice. The Federal Constitution itself must be subject to, and\u00a0construed in the light of The Malaysia Agreement 1963. SUPP has in\u00a0fact formed a committee to undertake a comprehensive standby of\u00a0State-Federal relationship as spelled out in the 1963 Agreement, which\u00a0unequivocally guarantees certain rights and privileges granted to the\u00a0people of Sarawak under the Cobbold Report and the Inter-Governmental\u00a0Committee Report which forms part of the 1963 Agreement.<\/p>\n
In the\u00a0circumstances SUPP says that this issue of the supremacy Federal\u00a0Constitution in relation to State or Shariah laws must be re-examined\u00a0and re-determined by the Federal Court in the light of The Malaysia\u00a0Agreement 1963, which to the people of Sarawak remains paramount.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
