Sports can create a more proactive and competitive young\u00a0generation, said Piasau State Assemblyman, Dato’ Sebastian Ting at the\u00a0closing of the Chung Hua sports day.<\/p>\n

TIng said through sports, we can not only instil the spirit of unity,\u00a0cooperation but also strengthen the bonds of all races, nationalities\u00a0and religions thus\u00a0 we should encourage our children and students to\u00a0pick up at least one sport as academic and sports are inseparable.<\/p>\n

“Miri council provides many sport facilities which targeted to\u00a0increase people’s awareness on the importance of exercising and\u00a0physical health. We’re glad that Miri was chosen to organize three\u00a0sport events in this SUKMA namely karate, sepak takraw and sailing as\u00a0this proved that this city is well prepared and has the capacity to\u00a0organise the events,” he said.<\/p>\n

I’m proud to see students of SMK Chung Hua students are very active\u00a0and talented in sports especially track and field event. Many athletes\u00a0were born from this school to represent Miri in the state, national\u00a0and even international competitions.<\/p>\n

Currently, there are students who are representing the state in SUKMA\u00a0in the shot put, archery, squash and sailing.<\/p>\n

Today’s sport day, he added, can also strengthen the tie between\u00a0primary schools and secondary schools in Miri with the participation\u00a0of school athletes from the eight schools. These young talents will\u00a0continue the sport excellence of Miri.<\/p>\n

“I hope to see SMK Chung Hua will keep improving in terms of both\u00a0academic and sports. The excellence of sports that has been long\u00a0applied to students would able to create young generation which is\u00a0healthy and successful in life. Live up the slogan that has been\u00a0upheld by the school community of SMK Chung Hua all the time, he\u00a0added.<\/p>\n

Ting hope the school will continue make sporting as a stiffening\u00a0element in building up the personality and academic excellence of the\u00a0students at all times.<\/p>\n

Various sports development programs that have been implemented by SMK\u00a0Chung Hua should be the role model to other schools as the promotion\u00a0of sports in Miri. Such program is in line with government policy to\u00a0uphold “1 Student 1 Sport”.<\/p>\n
