The Minister of Local government announced the list of\u00a0Mayor\/Chairman and Deputy Mayor\/Chairman of the 24 councils all over Sarawak.<\/p>\n

The most major change is the Mayor of Miri, Yii Siew Sang who is the\u00a0Pujut Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Chairman.<\/p>\n

While Sibu Municipal Chairman, Dato Tiong Thai King and Padawan\u00a0Chairman, Lo Khere Chiang were retained, both their deputy chairmen
\nwere changed. SMC deputy, Andrew Wong who was supported by United\u00a0People’s Party (UPP) to be the Chairman did not make it.<\/p>\n

The new deputy for Padawan Municipal council is Dato’ Ahmad Dato’ Sri Haji Ibrahim and SMC Rogayah BT Jamian.<\/p>\n

Dr. Sim said all the councillors name will be faxed to the respective\u00a0councils. He added that the Cabinet committee chaired by Deputy Chief\u00a0Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Ungah had taken all angles into\u00a0consideration before finalising over 700 councillors names. 66% of them are new faces.<\/p>\n

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the new\u00a0councillors (including those who are reappointed) and sincerely thank
\nall those councillors whose term finished on 30 June, for their service\u00a0to their respective council and community over the last 36 months.<\/p>\n

Cabinet Ministers\u00a0 annd assistant ministers will be progressively install the new councillors over the next few weeks. The City of Miri will have the swearin in on 21 July.<\/p>\n

During the installation of the new councillors as well as council\u00a0officers, they will be given KPI so that their work performance can be assessed over the next\u00a02 years”, he added.<\/p>\n
