On September 10, Dr Sim led the SUPP delegation to attend the GST Mega Seminar attended by more than 2000 in KL’s PWTC that included key note speech by our Prime Minister.

“The key message from our Prime Minister is that the GST will be introduced as announced on 1 April 2015 and that the Government is committed, to assistance programs from preparations by businesses to direct assistance to low income groups.  During the seminar, senior officers from Ministry of Finance, Customs and Ministry of Domestic Trade explained in detail the preparations that are already in place such as training programs and guidelines and, the committed approach to ensure that the GST will be successful for Malaysia,” he added.

With just over 6 months to go, Dr. Sim said it is very important for all segments of society to focus our minds on knowing the GST and understanding it.

He said it is useful for all Sarawakians to get the correct facts and information which can also be read on the official GST website www.gst.customs.gov.my .”You may read in the newspapers that during last week’s mega GST seminar that I attended with our delegates, the Prime Minister showed 2 books – one is the GST handbook with all the material that Customs used during their GST awareness programs and, the other book on the history and background to the development of our GST.  All these materials are based on information on the official website I mentioned – the handbook is directly there under the General Guide and there are also FAQs,” he added.

He urged all to  inform the community about the seminar next week and the experts will be ready to answer any queries during the seminar.
