Batu kawa 2nd phase

The construction of the second phase of the Batu Kawa Waterfront project, which will beautify Batu Kawa Waterfront, is officially started. It cost RM 3.189 million and is estimated to be completed within 8 months period. The second phase project will link Batu Kawa Tian Sze Temple Guang Long Gong’s platform till first phase’s “The Sky Window of Batu Kawa”. 

The appointed contractor received the contract from Padawan Municipal Council on yesterday’s ceremony. The open tender project require contractor to start works from February 13 and completed it by October 12. 

Minister of Housing and Local Government Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is Batu Kawah assemblyman, express his satisfaction on Batu Kawa Waterfront project first phase’s progress and second phase’s works start, and confident that it will drive the growth of the area economically and socially once completed.

The 800 metre long Batu Kawa Waterfront project total cost RM8.8 million and situated under the Datuk Chong Kiun Kong bridge. It has an iconic building – The Sky Window of Batu Kawa, a 360 degree platform where the public can get a bird’s-eye view of the landscape near Batu Kawa market. The ground-breaking ceremony in last year’s June was launched y Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg. The project is estimated to be completed in 18 months.

The project was initially co-funded by the federal and Sarawak governments, but federal funding was cancelled after Pakatan Harapan took over Putrajaya. 

The Sarawak government then stepped in to fully fund the project.

PH federal government has taken 95% of Sarawak petroleum, or equivalent to RM200 million daily, hence, federal government has obligation to fund Sarawak’s necessity development.
