DID issues warning letter to RTP project contractor

Dr Sim checks on the delayed works progress project

The Department of Irrigation and Drainage Sarawak (DID) has issued first warning letter to contractor for Batu Kawah RTP project (reconstruction and upgrading of drainage system and wooden bridge at Sungai Tapang Ulu, Batu Kawah) on delayed works progress.

According to DID’s letter dated 18th October 2019, the works progress should reached 48% as per scheduled, instead of just only 30% as at 18th September 2019.

DID disclosed that the reconstruction and upgrading of drainage system and wooden bridge at Sungai Tapang Ulu, Batu Kawah project was awarded to the contractor on 19th July 2019 under open tender, and contractor is required to complete the project by 15th December 2019.

Therefore, DID remind contractor to speed up their works progress to avoid further delay and causes inconveniences to public.

The wooden bridge at Sungai Tapang Ulu, Batu Kawah was constructed very long time ago, and with the increases of traffic flow at that area, the existing wooden bridge needs to be replaced. The residents at the area has brought up this issue to Dr Sim Kui Hian’s Batu Kawah service centre and the Minister of Local Government and Housing Dato Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian, who is Batu Kawah assemblyman, has requested DID to carry out the upgrading project.

The delayed works progress on the project has also caught the attention from Minister of Local Government and Housing Dato Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian, who is also Batu Kawah assemblyman.
