Road repair near Sungai Tujuh Immigration Checkpoint
The potholes near Sungai Tujuh Immigration Checkpoint which was completed yesterday is a project that Miri City council (MCC) had undertaken to ease the plights of the people. Miri Mayor, Adam Yii said the upgrading of roads to and from Sg. Tujuh Immigration check point should be under Federal government but there were too many complaints so the MCC had to start the project by coming up with its own funds. He then went with the councillors, MCC engineers and the contractor to view the work done which cost RM9,000.
Malaysia Abacus Mathematics competition
A total of 25 students from Miri will join the Malaysia Abacus Mathematics competition to be held in Kuching. The team led by their teachers, paid a visit to State Assemblyman Piasau, Dato’ Sebastian Ting yesterday at the SUPP Piasau branch.
Palliative Care Association of Miri
The Palliative Care Association of Miri led by its Chairman, Richard Wong paid a visit to Piasau State Assemblyman, Dato’ Sebastian Ting to thank him for his help to source a piece of land for them. 美里缓解关怀协会感激陈超耀
美里缓解关怀协会主席罗韵华于日前礼貌拜会砂人联党卑尔骚区州议员拿督陈超耀律师，以感激后者协助该会获得一片土地，以兴建会所。 从5年前开始，该会就有意申请土地，以帮助那些末期病患。而在去年，陈超耀协助将该会的信函交给首席部长，让该会可以完成兴建关怀中心的心愿。 首长最终批准一片两依甲的土地，给予美里缓解关怀协会。目前，该会照顾60名病患，拥有40名义工协助。
圣约瑟中学铜乐队演奏会
砂地方政府部长兼古晋圣约瑟中学校友会主席拿督沈桂贤于昨晚出席古晋圣约瑟中学铜乐队于古晋卫理公会三一堂举办的常年演奏会。 这是该队第5次举办类似的演奏会，主要是借着演奏会回馈社会。 砂副首长拿督阿玛道格拉斯也出席这项演奏会。 来自英国的Onyx Brass乐团也参与这项演奏会，为出席者带来精彩演出。
俞小珊：美里市政局修补双溪都九旧关卡道路
美里市长俞小珊披露，美里双溪都九旧关卡部份路洞获得市政局拨款9000令吉进行修补，方便更多往返美里汶莱的各种车辆，以免让更多道路使用者深受其害。 他称，美里是北砂区特别入门槛﹐包括了双溪都九关卡﹐如今更落实落地签证﹐透过关卡发出特别通行证予中国和印度游客。这些路洞犹如陷阱﹐不止有碍观瞻﹐更对来往美里的游客留下不好印象。 “因此﹐我希望联办内政部可以尽快落实美化该入门槛﹐避免影响来访的游客们对美里旅游业大打折扣。” 俞小珊表示，该道路原本是归联邦管辖范围内，但是长期以来却没有获得关注，拨款迟迟无下文。眼看路况变得越来越糟糕﹐为免危及更多车辆﹐他动议市政局拨出经费改善道路。最终﹐在上个月会议中通过﹐动用9000令吉拨款修补路洞情况。 他指出﹐基于市政局能给予的拨款有限﹐只能协助修补一些路洞﹐无法作出更多改善。道路的千疮百孔﹐尤其是从美里返汶莱的路段出现大坑洞﹐再加上年杪雨季来临﹐路面造成积水情况﹐路洞的深浅根本无法用眼睛测量﹐危及道路使用者。 他说，该路洞在上个月市局拨款下就迅速获得修补﹐他赞扬市政局人员的高效率﹐值得表扬。
罗克强为寡妇家庭伸出援手
砂人联党巴都吉当区州议员兼巴达旺市议会主席罗克强于日前向10哩一名寡妇伸出援手，为她和5名孩子提供援助。 这名妇女的丈夫，其丈夫刚于上个月逝世，顿时失去依靠，其孩子年龄也尚年幼。 当天随同罗克强拜访该家庭者还包括社区领袖和巴达旺市议员。 罗克强当天还带来了救世军的负责人，探讨如何帮助小孩们。他很感激救世军的负责人乐意亲临到访该寡妇的住家。
